Primal Pictures brought together international experts to make the Sports Injuries Series, Second Edition, DVD an excellent resource with painstaking attention to detail and dynamic imagery. The software features computer graphic models of human anatomy derived from MRI scan data, and fully interactive 3-D animations that show function.

The Sports Injuries Series, Second Edition DVD contains Sports Injuries: The Knee, Second Edition, Sports Injuries: The Foot, Ankle and Lower Leg, Second Edition, and Sports Injuries: The Shoulder, Second Edition. These innovative software programs offer a unique, interactive look at the anatomy of sports injuries. The second edition has even better three-dimensional graphics with new views that include bursae, fascia, lymph system, and synovial membranes. Larger rendered images are available so the images can be viewed in a larger format when running the software. Additionally, you can import any image into your own private educational presentations at no additional cost.

All of the Sports Injuries Series software programs included in this DVD have an anatomy section with a high-resolution, three-dimensional computer graphic model of the complete anatomy of the respective joints. The model allows you to choose from a variety of views, rotate at any point, and peel away layers of anatomy from skin to bone. Clicking on any structures within the model brings up extensive text supported by hundreds of color diagrams, videos, and slides.

Sports Injuries: The Knee, Second Edition, has an injuries section with relevant pathology, ligament tests, surgical treatment, conservative management, and rehabilitation of many common and less common injuries of the knee. More than 180 physiotherapy and biomechanics slides and videos provide unprecedented coverage of knee injuries. New dissection views have a number of rotations and are shown in the style of dissections, with structures cut away rather than removed. New views include the popliteal fossa view and the tibial meniscus view. New animations include kicking a ball, and running, plus a small number of overuse injury animations which include anterior knee pain, lateral knee pain and posterior knee pain.

Sports Injuries: The Foot, Ankle, and Lower Leg, Second Edition, includes an acute injuries/trauma section with coverage of lateral ankle sprain (including late management), and sesamoid (turf toe) injuries. The overuse injuries section has information on compartment syndrome, Achilles tendon injury, and rheumatic diseases mimicking sports injuries. All conditions are presented with related slides and video clips and information on conservative management, the role of surgery, and rehabilitation. New dissection views include sole, compartment and dorsal foot view. New animations include kicking a ball and running.

Sports Injuries: The Shoulder, Second Edition, contains an overview of functional anatomy of the shoulder, principles of shoulder biomechanics, the shoulder in throwing sports, clinical examination, and imaging. General principles of treatment and rehabilitation are also included. The new dissection views include the brachial plexus and the cubital fossa. New animations include the pitching mechanism in the form of an overarm throw, plus a small number of overuse injury animations.

Together, the software programs in the Sports Injuries Series, Second Edition DVD provide a complete picture of the anatomy of sports injuries.
